This shoot seemed divinely timed…after exactly one hour of capturing the brother & sister pair as they each expressed their own (very unique) personalities, it started to rain just as we wrapped. I was inspired listening to the violin singing through the forest while I photographed, and heard the sounds of a football being tossed between father & son behind me. What a beautiful day.

a sweet play date on alki beach with the beautiful miss emme and her red balloon…

Had a blast again with the awesome brothers Max & Brooks.  After sneaking up on poor little Brooks in his nursery (he thought we were pretty funny) we headed out to the backyard to capture the action as they played in the Sunday sunshine. I’ve been photographing this sweet family since Max was about a week old, and this time their cousin Cash was around to join in the play. I love being asked back to document their growth. Happy Summer, everyone!

Earlier this year, I felt inspired by the Dar Williams song “Mercy of the Fallen,” and I set out to capture a little bit of the magic of what I’ve learned thus far in life’s journey. These images were captured on film with a medium format camera, some are double exposures. They were printed with a lithographic developer, and now grace my living room wall as framed reminders.

My friend and fellow photographer, Melissa Levin, was kind enough to invite me to participate in a shoot she coordinated today on Capitol Hill here in Seattle.  I was able to shoot some color slide film with my Hasselblad (it’s not developed yet) for the first time, and can’t wait to see how they turn out.

With my D300, I documented the ‘getting ready’ phase, as makeup and hair was assembled at Roy Street Coffee House nearby.  Later, Melissa let me direct a few shots of my own while we were on-location (thank you, Melissa!).

SUPER fun morning, and I learned a great deal.  Makeup artist was another photographer friend of mine, the amazing Grace Seidel.  Models were the beautiful Morgan, Abby and Kaylee.

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of setting up my lights in the living room of Olivia & Audrey, and capturing their classic beauty.  Oh, and Bella (the dog) too. She just laid down in the frame, there was no moving her. Sweetness.

Our intention was to shoot “Vintage Seattle Spring” down at Pike’s Market but (this being Seattle)  it was raining, and the market is under construction.  Plan B, we met at their manor!

After our indoor shoot, we ran outside in rain boots and umbrellas to capture just a few more moments of their adorable sisterhood.

I bought my first medium format camera late last year – a splendid little Hasselblad 503cw. This month, I finally developed several of the rolls of film I’ve been quietly capturing, in between everyday digital moments.

This elegant ‘old’ medium is enthralling, and I love the magic of waiting, waiting, waiting to see the images. Here are a few of my favorites.

Jessica poignantly portraying Taylor Swift for a photo assignment. My Dad (on the right) and his army buddy Charlie (on the left) with letters they wrote to each other during the 54 years it has been since they last laid eyes on each other. My beautiful baby sister, Helen, on her wedding day – in the dressing room with a few best friends, looking at what her wedding photographer captured with a friend’s point-and-shoot.

Life, flashing before my eyes, but on film. I love it.

My absolute favorite holiday of the year – the big one, where we celebrate LOVE – is just one month away.  Valentine’s Day!  How much fun would it be to have your own L-O-V-E themed photo shoot, and give the pictures as gifts?  Ring me up, and let’s do it!

just a little reminder.  spring is on it’s way.  i promise!

Breaking in a new camera, I coerced one of my brave & sassy friends to pose for me…just for a few frames, as it was a cold November day, near Phinney Ridge in Seattle, and it didn’t take long for my fingers to freeze!  Note to self, must always bring gloves.  Thanks for trusting me with your beauty, Ro.  Hope you enjoy them.  xoxo.
